I am a new mommy to a beautiful girl born in february. I want to get a colorful tattoo to show my love for her
it's going to be in the middle of my shoulder blades and BIG. i'd like to have something that is ultra special, and i just can't put my finger on it. i'm not into banners though, so that one is out of there. i'd like the tattoo to look sort of like a sleeve would, but just have it in the middle of my back...please help me!
Don't listen to these fools telling you not to get a tat. If you want to get one in honor of your child that is a beautiful thing. It's only a fad to those for whom it has no meaning. For those of us who love our ink and take it into our hearts, it's a tradition thousands of years old honoring ourselves and others. So there. Rant over =)
Unfortunately none of here on Y!A are going to be able to give you truly special ideas, because we don't know anything about you or your lovely daughter. The best thing you can do is a bit of footwork. Go to your local bookstore and geek out on art books, botanical drawings, whatever inspires you. Even have a look at different tattoo books if there are some. brainstorm! Was there a letter you wrote to her while she was still in your belly that you could translate into a beautiful tattoo?
Go to different tattoo studios and look through the portfolios of various artists. This will give you some ideas and also help you find an artist whose style you like. Schedule a consultation with the artist, which is always free, and give him/her your ideas. Together you can start a dialog about the piece and create something unique and original that is perfect for you and a great testament to your daughter.
Here's a couple websites to check out for inspirational purposes, but believe me, the extra effort is worth it. And whatever you end up getting will be beautiful (so be sure to post a picture when you're done!). Good luck!
