Are pink, brown and other mixes of black, grey or white with another color colors?
Pink, brown, Light Blue, grey-orange... All those colors aren't found in the light spectrum (rainbow). But we can see them. Does it mean that there are "special" frequencies of light which are seen by human's eye but arent part of the spectrum?
Not really. Your eyes contain receptors for color, some of which are particularly sensitive to colors at the red end of the spectrum, some that respond best to colors in the middle of the spectrum (green) and some that are sensitive at the blue end. There are other receptors that just respond to light, irrespective of the color.
The color that you "see" is your brain's interpretation of the combination of the inputs from these receptors.
If you look at a sodium street light, it looks yellow, because it is giving out light in the yellow part of the spectrum.
If you look at a color tv picture of a sodium light, it still looks yellow, but if you look at the screen closely, you see that the image is made up of red and green dots! Your brain is being fooled into seeing yellow because of the signals from the red and green receptors in your eyes.
