SYTYCD pas de deux: was it up to par?
This is the second time they've done pas de deux on So You Think You Can Dance, and this time an actual ballerina performed it.
My question to you all is:
Do you think it was as good as the judges were saying?
Personally, I didn't think it was that great. I though Melissa was good enough to be a soloist, but not a principal. I know somebody that's touring with Romeo and Juliet now with ABT, and I don't think it was really up to par.
Your opinions?
I agree. The dance was simply average, and somewhat amateur-ish. Ade was a good partner, and very strong. But he does not have the technique of someone who has been training their whole lives. Melissa is an okay ballerina, but I have seen much better pointe work than hers. They were given a lot of praise, because they did a dance that has not been really exposed on the show. So in terms of it, they did great. But in the real dance world, they were nothing special.
