Widow and empty nester Salma Zidane lives on the Palestinian West Bank, in a little house flanked by lemon trees planted by her great grand parents. Unfortunately, when the Israeli minister of defense builds a house adjacent to her own, her lemon trees are deemed a security risk. Salma hires a lawyer to prevent the powerful man from having her ancestral trees removed, but the odds are stacked against her, and to make matters worse, she begins to fall in love with her lawyer. Things seem bleak, but it looks like hope could shine in from an unexpected source, when the minister's neglected wife develops sympathy for Salma's plight. ~ Cammila Albertson, Rovi Lipaz-Michael), complicates matters by feeling sympathy for her new neighbor's plight. Riklis’s movie is downbeat and thoughtful and provides a satisfying follow-up to his acclaimed 2004 feature, THE SYRIAN BRIDE. At the heart of the picture are two isolated women, Zidane and the minister’s wife, who feel drawn to one another despite the vast difference in their circumstances. Although the two characters barely share any scenes, Riklis deftly illustrates how they are both in opposition to the values held by Navon and his administration. The lemon grove is cleverly employed as a device that represents the vast chasm between Israel and Palestine, and the film carefully includes a broad range of characters, including the lecherous minister, some oafish soldiers, and the sad-eyed Zidane. The movie is beautifully shot, although Riklis carefully avoids turning it into a feel-good feature, instead using THE LEMON TREE as a parable that examines the stark contrasts on the West Bank in the early part of the 21st century.

How do you care for a indoor lemon tree?

My husband just got me a lemon tree from florida. I live in illinois. The info on the pack was not helpful. I know i cant leave it outside. I just wanna get a lil lemon, What would be good care to make it a happy lil lemon tree?

I am looking into buying one of those dwarf citrus trees myself. From what I have read, as long as it is a DWARF variety, you can plant it in a 12"-14" plastic pot, and bring it in in the winter. I also know that you should keep the soil moist at the root level, but NOT soggy at all.

Some are self pollinating, others are not. If it is NOT self pollinating, you will either have to take it outside in the summer, or use a Q-tip or small brush to spread the pollen around on the flowers.

I planted a lemon seed from a grocery store lemon about 4 months ago. It's now 6" tall. I just put it in a sunny window and keep the soil moist...
